Monday, September 15th: Auditorium, 9.00 a.m.—Ad- dress by the Dean of Administrative and Inter-Faculty Affairs, who will describe the courses of study in the various faculties. Monday, September 15th: Auditorium, 12.30 noon and 3.30 p.m.—Counselling tests for new students, mainly those from out-of-town. Tuesday, September 16th: Registration begins. (See page 5.) Thursday, September 18th: Auditorium, 9.00 a.m.—Ori- entation programme for new students. Friday, September 19th: Auditorium, 9.090 a.m.—Stu- dents' Council programme. MacKenzie in Armoury. All lectures and laboratories cancelled. Date and hour subject to change. 5 CHILDREN OF WAR DEAD (Education Assistance) ACT This Act provides fees and monthly allowances for 9 children of veterans whose death was attributable to military service. Enquiries should be directed to the nearest dis1trict office of the Department of Veterans' Affairs. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ASSISTANCE In order to assist students of academic merit who, without financial assistance, cannot proceed with their education beyond the level of the secondary school, the Provincial Government, with Dominion Government participation, has set aside a fund to provide loans (and a limited number of bursaries). Loans are to be repaid within three years of completion of training. Applica- tions, on forms available from the Department of Educa- tion, Victoria, B.C., must be received not later than August 1st. A similar fund, known as Department of Education Assistance for Teacher Training, has been provided by the Provincial Government for those who are preparing for the profession of teaching and agree to teach in the public school system of British Columbia for three years after graduation from teacher training. Applications must be received by the Department of Education, Vic- toria, B.C., not later than August 1st.
