January 20, 2015 Approved Minutes Members in Attendance: Pamela Heidell, Chairman Roger DuPont Christian Klein Walter Fey Docket #3475, Falcon Graphics on behalf of Bowes Management of 347 Massachusetts Avenue were represented by their attorney, and Robert Bowes was also present. They are requesting a special permit to construct and place a ground sign larger than the zoning bylaw. The ground sign as proposed would consist of a sign 50 inches high and 48 inches wide, with an additional rise of above the ground. The sign would be two-sided, and have three panels, to list the office tenants of the building. Mr. Bowes affirmed that the building occupancy was limited to three commercial tenants, and there would be no need in the future to add a fourth tenant listing that would increase the height of the sign. The board discussed the location of the sign with respect to the sidewalk. Mr. Bowes indicated that the front setback had been reduced due to the reconfiguration of Massachusetts Avenue, so the sign may depart from the plan but the intent was for the sign to be perpendicular to Mass Ave and no closer than five feet from the sidewalk. At the close of the hearing the board unanimously approved their request for a special permit with special conditions.
