Vision 2020 Diversity Task Group Minutes Date: Monday, January 11, 2016 Time: 6:45pm Social Time; 7- 9pm Business Meeting Location: Jefferson Cutter House, lower level gallery Present: Claire, Miriam, Kathy, Jill, Louise, Jackie, David, Allan, Jane, Mary, Robin, Clarissa, Marta, Janice, Janet, Elizabeth + 1-2 more 1. Welcome and Introductions 2. Designation of Minute-taker and back-up for next meeting Kathy will take notes in Mar. and Jackie in Feb. Mary will send them guidelines for minutes taking and processing 3. Review and Acceptance of 12/14/15 Minutes Minutes not available; will be reviewed next meeting 4. New Business Very briefly discussed posters for Black Lives Matter: do we want to join in selling these and have our name printed on some? Questions were raised about the number of groups already doing this. Perhaps discuss at next month’s meeting. 5. Review of Upcoming Events a. 3/22 Identity Panel at Library (Brooks to liaison) publicity needs to be determined b. 4/7 Unconscious Bias, support and details need to be planned but have speaker c. 5/10 True Story Theater event on “Stigmas” at Robbins Library, publicity and intro need to be planned d. 5/25 TST “Bystander” Workshop, publicity and details need to be planned 6. Workshop for DTG members: "On Being an Active Bystander" True Story Theater and facilitator Maureen Sullivan presented information about how bystanders who observe an incident might respond, reflected back several stories of bystander interventions told by DTG members, and engaged small groups in role played interventions. It was suggested that this training be offered again as part of the Living Brochure Project, and done in conjunction with a repeat of the 1/9/16 TST/DTG “Stigmas” show which was attended by 50 people.
