Introduction
hyroid disorders are extremely common and unfortunately their
incidence is rising. All thyroid conditions are far more common
in women than men. By age 50, one in ten women has a thyroid
disorder. The symptoms of a mild thyroid imbalance can go unnoticed
for many years because they are so general and unspecific. You may
have gained a couple of kilos in the previous six months, but put it
down to being busy and not as physically active as you once were;
or maybe you blame it on menopause. You may feel tired but reason
that it must be the extra pressures at work right now. Perhaps you
