Fundraisers for the hospice, which helps adults with terminal illnesses, have to climb a mountain every year to find the £2.9 million needed to stay open.It receives a government grant of £700,000,but the remaining £2.2 mil- lion must be found from the community of the county town. During the charity challenge the senior man- agers will use basic bicycles bought on arrival to travel an average of 60 miles a day through desert landscapes with forts and natures reserves in temperatures reaching 35C.
