Many of you arrived for orientation in August of 2009 and some came later transferring from other high schools in Newark and beyond. Regardless, soon you will all have a common bond. You will be Alumni of Weequahic High School. Our school has such a proud tradition and classes from as far back as eight decades ago who are still celebrating their reunions. You too will celebrate. You are probably beginning to reflect on the past four years. In ninth grade you adjusted to a block schedule , were introduced to high school graduation requirements and learned from eight different teachers. You met new friends and experienced an array of extracurricular activities. You shared moments of joy, anxiety and sadness. Together, you celebrated victories and endured defeat, accepted challenges and overcame obstacles. You've mastered your course of study and passed state testing requirements. Soon you will begin to celebrate your achievements, accomplishments and your four years at Weequahic High School. Your prom, graduation and family celebrations will be momentous times of joy. These special moments and decisions you have made about your future endeavors are exciting and full of challenges.
