Description:Processes involving water-rock interactions occur in nearly all environments, both surface and sub-surface. Understanding these processes improves our knowledge of natural systems and may provide solutions to environmental problems. The Tenth Water-Rock Symposium in Italy in 2001 brought together 450 leading geochemists, hydrologists and hydrochemists from 45 countries. The 380 papers published in these two volumes describe the results of research into water-rock interaction in a wide spectrum of geochemical environments. There is a particular emphasis on processes affecting the quality of water resources, with a view to minimising risks and developing remedies. These papers will interest professionals and graduate students in Earth Sciences, and engineers working in the fields of Environmental Science, Energy and Natural Resources.
