It has been a terrific year for the Faculty of Law. Our Mooters had their best year ever, not only capturing the National Gale Cup and Alberta Court of Appeal Challenge Cup, but finishing as Finalists in several other prestigious competitions. The Faculty of Law’s second place ranking in the 2000 Canadian Lawyer survey of law schools confirmed for us all how positive and enthusiastic University of Alberta graduates are about their experiences at our school. Although I can point to a lot of reasons why you should be proud to be a U. of A. law graduate, the one thing that strikes me as most remarkable about our school is the character of you, our students. In the past year, several initiatives undertaken by the faculty to create a supportive and receptive law school could not have been done without the encouragement and hard work of our students. The reception for parents and friends of first year students, the Open House for admitted applicants, the telephone calls to students who had applied to our law school, the Faculty FABS to congratulate our mooters, are all examples of activities which students actively participated in. This commitment of time and energy by busy law students served to demonstrate better than words can why our students are unique in Canada. Ta ke this spirit of friendship and community with you as you pursue your careers and lives outside of the U. of A. Remember to keep a balance in your lives, to support those who love and need you, and to continue to be good citizens. You all have an enormous opportunity to use your knowledge, skills and character to create a better place. Knowing you, I am sure you will succeed. 4 Klar Dean of Law Published in Canada Printed in USA Law Students’ Association President Sandro Marrocco VP General Mikle Carter VP Finance Chris McKay VP External Chris Veale VP Academic Dan Pichette VP Sports Andrew Kay VP Social 3L Danielle Parrotta VP Social 2L Carrie Steil Vy Rasetvicesisl Keith Reichert VP Services 2L Deb Szatylo 1L Representative Samantha McWilliams 1L Representative Chelsea McKay Editors’ Address Here, for your viewing enjoyment, is the 2001 yearbook...
