Another important division ofEverettHigh School is theOccupational Educational Department. In this division students are given real-lifesituations in the occupationoftheirchoice. Whenputin thesesituations, the studentsworkhands-on towards achievingtheirgoal and they learn whatittakesto be successful insuch an interactiveoccupation. Theprimary goal ofboth divisions ofthis school is to provide a surrounding in whichstudentscan develop the skills and acquirethe knowledge needed to achieve all inwhichwe striveforin life. Monday to Friday, Day 1 to Day 6, 7:45 to 2:15, we sat in hard metal chairs and walkeddownthehallways,neverknowingwhattoexpecteachande\ery newday. Itseemedjust likeyesterdaythatwewalked throughthosebigred doorsas freshmen,anxiousand excited. Itwasanewsenseoffreedom. No morestayingon the right hand side of the hallway, warning bells, orbeing stuffed in the cafeteria eating lunch. Weren't wecooltobeable toeatoutsideand pushandshove forfood at the trucks? The uppi iclassmen poked fun at us as we became used to the new surroundings. Our ne\N friends were the upperclassmen and everyone seemed to blend in to the surroundings. When wecamebackforoursophomoreyear, we feltmoreateasebecause itwas thesame routine aslast year. Then, thetragedyofSeptember 11th shattered our great feelings. It forever changed history and our lives. We united together, subsided our differences, and prayed for those who lost their lives that mournful day.Tragedyhad struck,butwedidn'tletitspoilourhopeforapositivefuture.Life at EHS would continue. Now, the teachersstressed the importance of MCAS, that dreadful tost we needed to pass in order to get our diploma. With the help ofour teachers,weprepared .indweconquered.Asexpected,theoutcomewassuperband a major sigh of relief overcame us when the results came. Like every year, the footballteampre\a led.Withthemajorityoftheplayersassophomores,ourfootball i team strived their wa\' to grasp a Super Bowl v ictory. Now, ourjunioryearwas already here. It was an important year for those whowerecollege-bound. Westruggled toworkhard,maintainourgrades,andbe activearound ourcommunity. Toadd toourstress,westarted to think aboutwhat colleges we wanted to apply to and registered for theSATs. Indeed it was a tough year,butwemanagedtobreakawayand celebratemorelaughterwithourfriends. Again, the football team won anotherSuper Bowl victory, and we celebrated. The junior- senior prom at the Hilton Hotel was a special night to remember forever.
