Formore than two centuries, members ofour Nation's Armed Forces have
built a tradition ofhonorable and faithful service. Each has answered a great
call and demonstrated personal courage, love ofcountry, and devotion to
duty. Our veterans hold a cherished place in our history, and millions around
the world live in peace because oftheir selfless dedication. Since 1919, the
American Legion has worked to uphold America's founding ideals and has
supported veterans and their families with a wide range ofprograms and
services.
As we continue to fight terror and advance freedom around the world,
Americans are inspired by the commitment and character ofour veterans.
I commend members ofthe American Legion for your dedication to these
brave men and women. Your efforts reflect the spirit ofour country and
honor the service ofthese patriots.
