Champion Bull, Winning Golf Team, Jr. Member Elected, Gold Award & Scholarship National Junior Angus Show Many Minnesota junior members also did well in the showring. Congratulations to all who exhibited. Keep trying would be an appropriate theme for Minnesota’s golf team. The Foundation Golf Tournament has been held annually since 2000. Lynn Ewald has participated in most of the tournaments since it began. Team members included Jim Purfeerst, Lynn Ewald, Mark Purfeerst and Matt Purfeerst; they captured top honors each winning a new golf bag. Tournament proceeds will benefit the Angus Foundation’s youth, education and research efforts. It may have been good-byes for Alisha Nord who completed her two-year term on the National Junior Angus Association Board of Directors, but it was hellos for her Matt Purfeerst exhibited the grand champion bred and owned brother Luke. Luke successfully ran for a position on the bull at the 2012 National Junior Angus Show. Board of Directors and will begin his two-year term. Matt Purfeerst, Faribault, exhibited the grand champion bred and owned Angus bull. MJP Purfeerst Lut 104 is a February 14, 2011 son of Plainview Lutton E102. The bull, owned by Matt and DA ES RO Angus of Columbus Junction, The Minnesota team in the Angus Foundation Golf Tournament Iowa, was first named junior champion. Judge for the Bred took first place. These shows are a great way to prepare for the Junior Field Day Show, NJAS and county and state 4-H and FFA shows. JC Angus Farms will Donate 2012 MYBEP Heifer Thank You Randy, Sue Jaden and Jared Carlson! Randy and Sue Carlson have been raising cattle for 20 Thank you to the Randy, Sue, Jaden and Jared for years in rural Pipestone, Minn. Initially, they started with their generous donation of a heifer for a worthy young Hereford cows and a commercial herd. They bought their person to help them get involved with Angus cattle. They have shown at numerous local, state, and national cattle shows. In 2010, Jaden exhibited the champion Angus cow-calf pair at the Minnesota State Fair. They are also involved in livestock judging, meats judging and livestock quiz bowl— winning national honors in each area. Jaden and Jared also show hogs, Suffolk sheep and meat goats.
