Arriagada(1995,2003)reducedC.funhiae(Antioquia,Colombia)tosyn- omntyhmeypholylCl.apreinetsasnoeumreonm.atAetrioanleIproionmt,AIntthioouqguhitatahnadttmheFporroermoineetnatl.r2e2s7in9d(uMcOt;s Choco,ColombianearborderwiththenorthernlimitsofValle,Colombia)could beusedtodistinguishthismaterialfromthegenerallymoresouthernC. pentaneuron.However,thecollectionfromChocoisnearthecenterofdistribu- tionofC.pentaneuron,andothermaterialofCpentaneuronfromAntioquia lackstheprominentphyllaryresinducts.Thus,thereseemstobenomeaning- fulmorphologicalfeaturesthatonecouldusetosplittheColombiamaterialof C.pentaneuronintomorethanasingletaxon.Indeed,thiswastheobservation ot Arriagada(1995,2003),themonographerwhoreducedCfunkiactosyn- onymy.Moreover,nocaseiorgeographicseparationofC.funkiacasdistinct fromC.pentaneuroncanbemade.Thus,1recognizeCpentaneuroninaslightly narrowerconceptthandoes Arriagada(1995,2003),and segregateonly Clihadiumarriagadaefromit.
