Aaron has served as one of the faces of the shul, as vice-president or president, during nine of the last eleven years. During his “off” years, Aaron has served as gabbai rishon and on the youth committee, led our Shabbos morning groups, and has spent much time focused on programs and shiurim for the shul's women and children. Aaron was very instrumental in the creation and enactment of some of our strongest learning programs including our Friday Night Beis Medrash and our Shavuos and Tishrei learning challenges. Aaron has been one of the mainstays in our recently created hashkama minyan and arranges the shalosh seudos the shul hosts throughout the year. Rachel has also had an impact in our community having served on several committees over the years including those for mishloach manot, Simchas Torah candy bags, and arranging meals for those with a new baby and being a regular at the rabbi’s various shiurim for women. Rachel has also been involved with our outgoing communications, having authored many of our chasanim letters and other formal announcements. Additionally, Rachel and Aaron have frequently opened their home to the shul, having hosted multiple youth shalosh seudos, sukkah hops and Shabbos afternoon groups. Within our greater community, Rachel has played a role of the spiritual growth in many of the young boys in our community as a first grade morah at RYNJ. Aaron has volunteered his time as a coach in many of the commu- nity’s youth sports leagues. The Kopsticks are not just involved themselves, but have constantly involved their children in all aspects of their devotion and involvement in Ohr HaTorah and outside endeavors. They are the proud parents of Yitzy, Ezra, Atara, Shua and Abie. While much of his work is often done quietly behind the scenes, Avrami has done some of the most important work for Ohr HaTorah. Avrami has been the treasurer since the shul’s inception, handling all of the shul’s finances, making sure the ohr stays on. Year in and year out, he has devoted much time to making sure the financial aspects are coordinated from the shul’s various fundraising events over the course of the year, managing membership dues, and working with those who are financially stressed to make sure they too can participate, always in a refined and dignified manner. Most recently, Avrami was instrumental in working with the lending bank to make sure the shul was able to get proper financing and close on our new property. Additionally, he has been one of the longtime coordinators of the Shul’s Motzei Shabbos Learning program for boys. Under Avrami's guidance, the boys MSL program has grown significantly and continues to be a highlight of Ohr HaTorah's youth programming that is excitedly attended by our youth of all ages. Romy has also been a leader in our shul, serving on mishloach manos committees, women’s events committees and coordinating hachnasas orchim shabboses. For her part, Romy is known as someone the sisterhood can turn to, whether she is on a committee or not, and she will step up and arrange whatever is asked of her, and run it beautifully and flawlessly, too. The Tabaczniks are known for their generosity outside of the shul as well. Romy is always available to bring meals for anyone who needs, on any occasion. As a nurse practitioner, she is a caring and nurturing presence to the patients she interacts with on a constant basis. Avrami and Romy have been a great role model and inspiration for all of our children, but especially their own, Yaakov, Zevi and Bentzi. We are proud to recognize Aaron and Rachel Kopstick and Avrami and Romy Tabacznik as the Co-Guests of Honor at our 3rd Annual Dinner. Letter from Rabbi Sobolofsky With the memories of Shavous still fresh on our minds, we have a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the beautiful Makom Torah our shul has become. Chazal describe a shul as a miniature Beis HaMikdash. The Ramban in Parshas Teruma observes that the primary role of the Beis Hamikdash was to be a continuation of the Har Sinai experience. The temporary sanctity of Har Sinai which was attained by the Divine Presence resting upon it would find a permanent home in the Beis Hamikdash. It is this Har Sinai experience that we have attempted to recreate in our miniature Mikdash. Through our learning, davening and chessed, Ohr HaTorah has become the focal point in our spiritual lives. It is Ohr HaTorah that has enabled us to connect to our roots at Har Sinai. We have so much to be proud of as a community. The sound of Torah learning can be heard during shiurim for men, women and children on Shabbos, Yomim Tovim and during the week. From Friday night learning to Avos U’banim and girls Motzei Shabbos learning to special women’s shiurim, there is an opportunity for everyone to learn. This past year we had the privilege to have new learning opportunities such as Rabbi Shalem’s Choshen Mishpat shiur, a series of parenting lectures for women and a Chumash Shiur following our new and very successful Hashkama Minyan to supplement our already full schedule of learning. Our davening continues to be a source of great inspiration. From the Yomim Noraim to Hakafos on Simchas Torah, from our multiple minyanim on Shabbos to our nightly Maariv, Ohr HaTorah has become our Mikdash in whch we connect to Hashem. As a community and as a part of Klal Yisroel, Ohr HaTorah has been the vehicle to enable us to connect to one another. Whether through Hachnasas Orchim, Tzedaka campaigns and multiple communal Chessed projects, we are committed to Ahavas Yisroel in our community and beyond. All of these accomplishments must inspire us to reach even higher goals. We must continue to serve as role models for our children and include them in our pursuits of Torah, Tefilla and Chessed. It is a true inspiration to watch our children grow in their Avodas Hashem. Ohr HaTorah continues to provide the warm, loving environment for our children to reach their spiritual potential. All of Ohr HaTorah’s accomplishments could never have occurred without the dedication and hard work of tonight’s honorees. Aaron and Rachel Kopstick and Avrami and Romy Tabacznik have served our community with whole-hearted love and devotion. We wish them Mazel Tov and much continued success in all of their endeavors. May Hashem bless them their families to continue to grow in their personal and communal Avodas Hashem. May Hashem continue to shower His blessing on our entire Ohr HaTorah family. We look forward to much continued growth together. As we anticipate with great excitement the building of a new home for Ohr HaTorah, we look to the past as an inspiration for the future. May Ohr HaTorah continue to grow as our Mikdash as we await the rebuilding of the ultimate Mikdash in Yerushalayim speedily in our days. Rabbi Zvi Sobolofsky Message from the Officers Dear Members and Friends, We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Ohr HaTorah’s third annual dinner. Ohr HaTorah has established itself to be a beautiful makom tefila and bais medrash, with inspiring shiurim by our Rav. Our families are blessed to have Rabbi and Rebetzin Sobolofsky as role models and leaders of our community. We are also proud of our youth department that models our shul’s values, which encourages our children’s spiritual growth. At this time, we would like to wish a Mazel Tov to Aaron and Rachel Kopstick and Avrami and Romy Tabacznik on their well deserved honor. Your commitment and dedication as pillars in our community have made an everlasting impact in our shul. We encourage everyone to get involved as Ohr HaTorah continues to grow together. With Hashem’s help, may we continue down this inspiring path towards our new home, and continue to be a makom tefilah and torah for our families.
