About This Drawing
This document provides application engineering details and ordering codes for
Metropolis® ADM MultiService MUX. Specifications and application considerations are
included to properly engineer the network element for desired functionality, as well as condition
the location for proper operation and maintenance.

The most current Issue of this drawing can be obtained in paper format or electronically
downloaded from the Lucent Corporate Information Center (CIC) by specifying the drawing

Engineering Notes
1. For Lucent Engineered orders, job information shall be recorded by comcode number in the regional wiring
lists.
2. The High Density Subrack (EHA1) includes mounting brackets for both ETSI Rack and 19" Rack installation.
3. Quick Copy block (QCB) kit comcodes listed are for the raw cable only. Order the QCB to receive all
associated hardware to assemble the cable or kit.
4. If a PI- EI/63 unit is inserted in slot 7, it is in the protection unit and may not be used to carry traffic.
5. If LKA5 is inserted in Slots 1 and 2, only a 2Mbit/s Tributary interface unit (LKA2) is allowed in Slot 7.
6. The 2Mbit/s Paddle Boards extend below the bottom of the subrack when installed. This extends the overall
height of the subrack to 925mm. Be sure to allow enough space below the subrack for installation or if
future 2Mbit/ paddle boards will be required.
7. The Cable and Connector Kit 849005558 provides the following:

2 V11 Connector Kits 15P DSUB Male Connector, Hood and Ferrules

2 G703 Connector Kits 9P DSUB Male Connector, Hood and Ferrules
2 Station Clock IN Connector Kits 9P DSUB Female Connector, Hood and Ferrules
2 Station Clock OUT Connector Kits 9P DSUB Male Connector, Hood and Ferrules
8. The Patch Panel kit is used when conversion from SC to FC interfaces are required for the optical
tributaries. One Patch Panel kit is required for every LKA6 or LKA13 requiring this interface. Only one
Patch Panel Kit is required for two of either LKA11 or LKA14 Circuit Packs.
9. Slot 7 is reserved for 1:N Protection when using electrical 2 Mbit/s or STM-1 tributary units. It can also be
used for unprotected STM-1 optical interfaces (only in combination with core unit LKA5B). TransLAN units
are not allowed in Slot 7.
10. The Patch Panel Kit can accommodate a maximum of 8 optical interfaces. An additional connector strip
and cable kit increases the optical interfaces to 16.
11. The PDP-M Kit Supports 2 Subracks. If connecting more Subracks to the PDP-M, additional alarm cables
must be ordered. The kit contains:
1 PDP-M
1 PDP-MA
1 1.6M (5.25 Ft) Alarm Cable (Upper Subrack)
1 3.2M (10.5 Ft) Alarm Cable (Lower Subrack)
12. The PDP-M Power Kit is required when ordering a PDP-M or PDP-M Kit. It Contains 2 Circuit Breakers
(16A) and 2 Power Cables. One PDP-M power kit is required for each Subrack.
13. A Maximum of two subracks may be installed in a 300mm deep bay.
14. The LKA12B Circuit Pack may be used with release 4.0 software only for the Quality of Service (QOS)
feature. Previous releases must use LKA12.
