Five majorclassesofnumerals can bedistinguished: cardinal, approximate cardinal, ordinal, distributive and multiplicative. The simple cardinal numerals are: omen 'one', d'oor'two', ilan 'three',digen'four', tunrjan'five', n'urjen 'six', nadan 'seven', d'apkan 'eight',ujun 'nine', mian'ten',n'ama'hundred'. Tensarederivedbycompounding, involvingthe plural formof the numeralmian'ten' as the second memberofthecompound: ilan-mia-r(three-ten-PL)'thirty'. The names ofnumeralsaboveten aswell as hundreds areformedperiphrastically, combiningthe correspondingnamesforhundreds, tens and uni—ties; cf. d'oorn'amamian omen 'twohundredele- ven'. Derivationally,cardinalsserveasabasefortheotherclassesofnumerals: approximatecardi- nals in -kli Qnia-kli 'aboutten'),ordinalsin -gi i-,followed by apossessiveending (d'oor-i-ten the second (ofthem)'),distributive in -tall-tel(ome-tel'one byone'), "multiplicative" in -rman/- rmen (ila-rman'ofthreecomponents(layers,rows,etc)').
