LOCK Mode and an available CVT automotive transaxle with AutoStick® shifter with six distinct “speeds.” AutoStick allows the driver to maximize engine braking, control upshifts, downshifts, and optimize overall performance and control. Patriot’s available Trail Rated® Freedom-Drive II Off-Road Group helps earn Patriot the nod for best-in-class off-road capability.(1) It’s due to the group’s active, full-time 4WD with LOCK Mode, Hill Descent Control (HDC) with grade sensing and Hill Start Assist (standard on Freedom-Drive II 4WD as well as manual transmission equipped models), skid plates, tow hooks, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, heavy-duty cooling and alternator, and driver-seat height adjuster matched to a Continuously Variable Automatic Transaxle (CVT2L) with 19:1 crawl ratio. Five performance categories outline the superior capabilities that all Trail Rated vehicles share. articulation A Trail Rated suspension system is limber like a gymnast. How exactly? Flexibility is the key to good articulation. The more a wheel can travel and suspension flex, the better it can maintain contact with terra firma and provide the traction needed to cross an array of obstacles. traction The vehicle maintains forward momentum through the tires staying in contact with the road or trail. Trail Rated traction helps you stay in control on untamed terrain, slippery (wet, mud, snow) conditions, and on steep grades. Maneuverability Athletic. Agile. Trail Rated. Jeep 4WD vehicles have the footwork to help navigate narrow gaps, dodge emergency situations and avoid cosmetic damage to the underbody, thanks to precision steering and optimized wheelbases. Ground clearance Help keep your belly out of the mud. Clear nasty logs, rocks, and uneven ground while helping to prevent undercarriage damage. Trail Rated vehicles feature optimized approach, departure, and breakover angles to keep you in the clear. WAter fording(1) Hit that riverbed with confidence. A Trail Rated Jeep vehicle features additional electrical and body sealing, along with a high air intake location for optimum water fording capability. (1)Do not attempt water fording unless depth is known to be less than 19 inches. Traversing water can cause damage that may not be covered by the new vehicle warranty. Always off-road responsibly in approved areas. room to move. confidence. HIGHEST GOVERNMENT FIVE-STAR SIDE CRASH TEST RATING Jeep Patriot received the highest marks — Five Stars — during side crash tests performed as part ® of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s SaferCar.gov program.(1) This means you can head out with confidence, knowing you’re outfitted with a comprehensive set of safety and security features. Patriot’s air bag(2) system includes a front and rear side-curtain and advanced multistage driver and front passenger air bags. Front seat active head restraints move forward and upward in the event of a rear-end collision to decrease the space between the headrest and occupant’s head, thereby helping to reduce the chance of injury — a new and standard safety feature.(3) The standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC)(4) integrates a host of systems that includes a four-wheel antilock brake system (ABS), all-speed traction control, a Brake Assist system that automatically helps provide strong braking power in emergency situations, Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) that can apply strategic, appropriate braking and reduce engine power when overly sharp steering actions and/or impending wheel lift is detected, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Hill Start Assist and available Hill Descent Control (HDC). Patriot’s safety cage structure contains a front crumple zone that absorbs energy during a frontal impact and a high-strength crossbeam under the rear seat area that helps transfer side-impact energy from one side to the other. Plus, a standard Sentry Key® Antitheft Engine Immobilizer makes it virtually impossible to drive without a valid key. (1)S tar ratings are part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s SaferCar.gov program (safercar.gov). (2)The Advanced Front Air Bags in this vehicle are certified to the new Federal regulations for advanced air bags. Children 12 years old and younger should always ride buckled up in a rear seat. Infants in rear-facing child restraints should never ride in the front seat of a vehicle with a passenger front air bag. All occupants should always wear their lap and shoulder belts properly. Air bags shown deployed for illustrative purposes only. (3)Always sit properly with the head restraint properly adjusted. Never place anything in front of the head restraint. (4)No system, no matter how sophisticated, can repeal the laws of physics or overcome careless driving actions. Performance is limited by available traction, which snow, ice and other conditions can affect. When the ESC warning lamp in the speedometer flashes, the driver needs to use less throttle and adapt speed and driving behavior to prevailing road conditions. Always drive carefully, consistent with conditions. Always wear your seat belt. Beat inflation issues. The Tire Pressure Warning Lamp and available Tire Pressure Monitoring Display (shown) provide notification of high or low pressure on individual tires via an instrument panel readout or warning light (depending on system).
