Each year, an international and interdisciplinary community of scholars, researchers, and practitioners gathers to explorecoreconceptsandideasininformationscholarshipandtodevelopnewavenues ofresearch.iConference2019washostedbytheUniversityofMaryland,CollegePark, in collaboration with Syracuse University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The conference was held in Washington, DC from March 31 to April 3 with the theme of “inform. include. inspire.” The aim of this year’s conference was to discusswhatitmeanstoinforminthe21stcentury,toconsiderwhoisincludedinand excluded from the information revolution, and to question how scholars can best inspire individuals and organizations to use information for good in the rapidly changing knowledge society. The conference’s geographic location in the U.S. capital emphasized the role that national and international policies play in technological advances and access. Thescholarshippresented attheconferenceincludedtwosubcategories ofresearch papers: short papers, which present new, provocative, and cross-cutting themes in a focusedandsuccinctmanner, andfullpapers, whichpresentnewandoriginalresearch results from empirical investigations and experiments, or from theory and model development. Of the 88 short papers submitted, 33 were accepted (37.5% acceptance rate). Of the 133 full papers submitted, 44 were accepted (33% acceptance rate).
