The family relocated to East Orange, New Jersey and in later years, took up residence in Brooklyn, New York where “Jerri” completed her education. During World War II, Jeroline was employed by the War Department in Washington, D.C. On January 27, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to James M. Lee who predeceased her. To this union three daughters were born, the late Gwendolyn Perkins, Sandra Lee and Denise Lee, all of Newark, New Jersey. “Jerri” was a faithful and devoted member of Blessed Sacramenv/St. Charles Borromeo Church for many years. She served as Eucharistic minister, proclamation of the word, instructor for R.C.LA (Right of Christian Initiation for Adults). She also devoted her time to the church as a food pantry volunteer and Bingo worker. The Archdiocese of Newark awarded her the Jubilee 2000 Award. For several years, Jeroline was the treasurer of the Blessed Sacrament/St. Charles Rosary Altar Society. She was employed for thirty-five years and retired in 1994 from the City of Newark, as a medical clerk stenographer for the Department of Food and Drugs. Much of “Jerri’s” spare time was devoted to the Girl Scouts of America community activities before she held the position of Assistant Girl Scout Leader in 1959. She served on the Board of Directors in 1973 and was second and third Vice President from 1978-198----. Jeroline received the highest award in adult scouting—called the “Thanks Badge II” in 1993. Jerri was one of the founders of the Crispus Attucks Association, a membofe trhe Metropolitan Civic Association and the Ind Citizen’s Alliance. The Black Professional Women awarded her their Sojourner Truth Award. “Jerri” is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lee and Denise Lee; one grandson, Hassan Perkins; one granddaughter, Sharonda Perkins; a son- GOD Saw you getting tired And ac ure was not to be So He put His arms around you, And whispered, “Come to Me!” With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.
