For more than 140 years, depository libraries have supported the public's right to know by collecting, organizing, preserving, and assisting users with information from the Federal Government. The Government Printing Office provides Government information products at no cost to designated depository libraries throughout the country. These depository libraries, in turn, provide local, no-fee access in an impartial environment with professional assistance. The collections contain information on careers, business opportunities, consumer information, health and nutrition, legal and regulatory information, demographics, and countless other subjects reflecting the activity ofthe Government, in print, microform, CD-ROM, and online electronic media. Federal depository libraries are located in nearly every congressional district throughout the United States and its territories. Selective depository libraries tailor their selections of Government information products to their community's primary needs. Regional depository libraries receive all the products available through the program. Any member ofthe public can visit these depository libraries and use the Federal depository collections. Before visiting a depository library, call first to verify hours ofoperation. iv The publications made available to the depository libraries, including Government electronic products, are cataloged in the Monthly Catalog ofUnited States Government Publications. An electronic version ofthis catalog, going back to 1994, is available on the Web on GPO Access at <http://www.gpo.gov/catalog>. Once an information product is identified, a link is available to locate depository libraries that receive that product. The GPO Access Web site can therefore be used to determine what recent titles are available in the libraries, and which depository libraries have them. Through cooperative collection development, interlibrary loan resource sharing, and the regional complete collections, the system provides service and access to all. *************** Categories of Depository Libraries Academic (general) Libraries 50% Public Libraries 20% Academic Law Libraries 11% Community College Libraries 5% State and Special Libraries 5% 4% Federal and State Court Libraries Federal Agency Libraries 4% ********** Directory Access on the World Wide Web The Federal Depository Library Directory, searchable by state or area code, and updated monthly, is available on the Web at <http://www.gpo.gov/libraries>. ********** Entries in this directory are current as of February 22, 1 999 ALABAMA ALABAMA Enterprise Jacksonville Auburn EnterpriseStateJuniorCollege 0009B JacksonvilleStateUniversity 0010 LearningResourcesCenter HoustonColeLibrary AuburnUniversity 0002 600PlazaDrive FelhamRoadNorth RalphBrownDraughonLibrary 36330-9998 36265-1867 231 MellStreet (334)347-2623:271 (256)782-5238 36849-5606 FAX: (334)393-6223 FAX: (256)782-5872 (334)844-1702 Rep.des. 1967 02CD Rep.des. 1929 03CD FAX: (334)844-1703 land-grant 1907 03CD Fayette Maxwell Air Base Birmingham BevillStateCommunityCollege 0013A AirUniversity 0005B BrewerCampusLRC AirUniversityLibrary BirminghamPublicLibrary 0015 2631 TempleAvenueNorth 600ChennaultCircle 2100ParkPlace 35555 36112-6424 35203-2794 (205)932-3221:5141 (334)953-2888 (205)226-3620 FAX: (205)932-3294 FAX: (334)953-2329 FAX: (205)226-3743 Rep.des. 1979 04CD agency 1963 02CD Rep.des. 1895 07CD Florence Mobile Birmingham-SouthernCollege 0006 RushLearningCenter/MilesLibrary UniversityofNorthAlabama 0014 SpringHillCollege 0007 900ArkadelphiaRoad CollierLibrary ThomasByrneMemorialLibrary 35254 MorrisonAvenue 4000DauphinStreet 35632-0001 36608 (205)226-4749 (256)765-4469 (334)380-3880 FAX: (205)226-4743 Sen.des. 1932 07CD FAX: (256)765-4438 FAX: (334)460-2179 Rep.des. 1932 05CD Rep.des. 1937 01 CD JeffersonStateCommunityCollege 0015A Gadsden UniversityofSouthAlabama 0007B JamesB.Aller Library 2601 CarsonRoad UniversityLibraries 35215-3098 GadsdenPublicLibrary 0007A 307UniversityBoulevard 254CollegeStreet 36688-0002 (205)856-8524 35999-3101 (334)460-7024 FAX (205)856-8512 Rep.des. 1970 06CD (205)549-4699 FAX: (334)460-7181 FAX: (205)549-4766 Rep.des. 1968 01 CD SamfordUniversity 0005 Rep.des. 1963 04CD Montgomery HarwellG.DavisLibrary Huntsville 800LakeshoreDrive AlabamaPublicLibraryService 0011 35229-7008 UniversityofAlabama,Huntsville 0008A 6030MonticelloDrive (205)870-2847 SalmonLibrary 36130-6000 FAX: (205)870-2642 UniversityDrive (334)213-3900 Sen.des. 1884 06CD 35899 FAX: (334)213-3993 (256)890-6529 state 1984 02CD FAX: (256)890-6862 Rep.des. 1964 05CD 1 ALABAMA AlabamaSupremeCourt 0001 UniversityofAlabama 0012A Fairbanks StateLawLibrary BoundsLaw Library 300DexterAvenue 101 PaulBryantDrive UniversityofAlaska,Fairbanks 0017 36104-3741 35487-0383 ElmerE.RasmusonLibrary (334)242-4347 (205)348-1114 310TananaDrive 99775-6817 FAX: (334)242-4484 FAX: (205)348-1112 StateCourt 1884 07CD lawschool 1967 06CD (907)474-7624 FAX: (907)474-5068 AuburnUniversityatMontgomery 0008B Tuskegee land-grant 1922 AtLarge Library 7300UniversityDrive TuskegeeUniversity 0003 Juneau 36124-4023 HollisBurke FrissellLibrary (334)244-3650 427OldMontgomeryRoad AlaskaDepartmentofEducation 0016 36088 AlaskaStateLibrary FAX: (334)244-3720 (334)727-8891 AlaskaStateOfficeBuilding8thFloor REGIONALDEPOSITORY 99811-0571 Rep.des. 1971 02CD FAX: (334)727-9282 land-grant 1907 03CD (907)465-2920 FAX: (907)465-2665 Normal ALASKA state 1900 AtLarge AlabamaA&MUniversity 0009 J.F.DrakeMemorialLearningResourcesCenter Anchorage UniversityofAlaska,Southeast 0020A 4700MeridianStreet WilliamA.EganLibrary 35762-0489 AlaskaResourcesLibrary&Information 0016B 11120GlacierHighway 99801-8676 (256)858-4732 ARLISLibrary FAX: (256)851-5768 3150CStreet (907)465-6466 land-grant 1963 05CD 99503-3916 FAX: (907)465-6249 (907)272-7547 Sen.des. 1981 AtLarge Troy FAX: (907)271-4742 agency 1981 AtLarge Ketchikan TroyStateUniversity 0005A Library,WallaceHall AlaskaStateCourtLawLibrary 0016A UniversityofAlaska,Southeast 0018 GeorgeWallaceDrive AnchorageLawLibrary KetchikanCampusLibrary 36082 303KStreet 26007thAvenue (334)670-3255 99501-2099 99901 FAX: (334)670-3955 (907)264-0585 (907)225-4722 Sen.des. 1963 02CD FAX: (907)264-0733 FAX: (907)225-3624 StateCourt 1973 AtLarge Rep.des. 1970 AtLarge Tuscaloosa AMERICAN SAMOA AnchorageMunicipalLibraries 0018A UniversityofAlabama 0012 ZJ.
