The U.S. Trade Internet System, located at this web link, supports the tracking of imports and exports of agricultural commodities into and out of the United States. The system allows users to generate reports that provide trade information on one or more commodity(ies) for one or more country(ies) over a user-specified time period. The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines horticultural products to include: fresh and processed fruits, vegetables, and tree nuts; juices; wine and wine products; hops; nursery products and cut flowers; ginseng; essential oils; beer; and other miscellaneous horticultural products. For a complete listing of the products included under the definition of horticultural products, including the HS codes, please refer to the “Horticultural Exports” and “Horticultural Imports” tables located on pages 7 to 31 and http://www.fas.usda.gov/ustrade. For further information on the U.S. Harmonized Tariff System, go to http://dataweb.usitc.gov. Please be advised that the 2002 export and import 13th month data has been applied. Each year the Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Division releases a 13th month file approximately three (3) months after the December release of the data. The 13th Month file includes corrections (ERRATA) made at the request of outside sources and verified with exporters or importers by the Foreign Trade Division. The 13th month data also includes late shipments. Late shipments are Shippers Export Declarations or Import Entry Summary Forms that are received too late to be included within the normal monthly trade release. The global trade data presented in this report were generated using a database provided by Global Trade Information Services, Inc. This database covers official country trade statistics for 44 countries, which account for over 90 percent of world trade in horticultural products. In the global trade tables of this publication, all 15 European Union (EU) countries were grouped into one category for the purpose of excluding intra-EU trade. In addition, hyphens (-) represent missing data. For a complete listing of countries covered by the database, see the “Global Exports” and “Global Imports” tables on pages 46 to 51. Information on trade by all countries, including those not captured in the Global Trade database system, is available from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations at: http://apps.fao.org. Trade Mission to Brazil (September 2003) Are you a U.S. exporter of consumer-ready foods, organic products, or a distributor of trading company interested in selling products to the retail sector in South America's most populous nation? Brazil imported $60 million in consumer-ready products from the U.S. in 2002. This USDA/FAS-sponsored trade mission to Sao Paulo will meet top importers and supermarket buyers, go on guided site tours of supermarkets and other retail sites, listen to briefings by the supermarket association, exhibit your products at the USDA/FAS booth at SIAL Mercosul/ABRAS, and have an opportunity to promote products at a reception with qualified buyers hosted by the American Consul General.
