Since the Thesaurus is compiled on the basis of frequency of current use oftermsinFSTA,itwasfeltthatitwouldbeanexcellentstartingpointforidentifyingterms which should also be in a dictionary of food science and technology. All the terms in the Thesaurus were reviewed as candidate terms for the Dictionary and over the last four years theThesaurusandDictionaryhavebeenupdatedconcomitantly. AllthetermsinthisfirsteditionoftheDictionaryhavebeendefinedbyspecialistscientific staffatIFISwiththeaimofsatisfyingtheneedsofacademiaandthefoodindustryworldwide.
