During the meeting a fruitful exchange of knowledge was initiated which I hope will lead to further inspiration and research. The book covers the following topics: Special Blocks Obstetric Pathology Epidural versus Spinal Anaesthesia (Postoperative) Pain Control I would like to express my gratitude to all the speakers who sent their manuscripts in time for publishing. I should also like to thank the co-editors of this book, as well as mr B.F. Commandeur, from Martinus Nijhoff Publishers for their cooperation. Finally I should like to express my gratitude especially to Mrs J.I. Tieleman-Shamir for all her secretarial work, and to Miss M.P.M. Toelen for typing a good number of the manuscripts. w.
