Cassie Mueller is the 'Miracle Girl' in her hometown of Ayrin. Her whole life she has never gotten hurt but now it is more than avoiding scrapes and bruises. Somebody is out to prove she isn't bulletproof. Danger follows her everywhere she goes yet she comes out unscathed - much to her distaste. Cassie longs to feel the rush of adrenaline and will get it wherever she can even if her Dad forbids it and the uprising of vampires in America seems to be the ideal outlet for her frustration.
When brooding Gabe walks into a bar, he changes her life. He is arrogant, infuriating and his ever-present frown troubles Cassie but he is the key to the life of vampires that Cassie craves.
Gabe brings her Maurice: a charming, beautiful vampire with a keen interest in her. Maurice showers her in expensive presents, trips to Paris and mind blowing sex but Cassie learns that the adrenaline rush and the danger that she yearns for isn't all that it seems and learns a lot about her unique gift along the way.
