Commerce's front porch. The actual walk starts at Jack's restaurant rear parking
lot. Take a copy of the driving directions to Jack's rear parking lot from the the
"Walk Box" at Chamber of Commerce. Stamp books, and take mailing envelope so
you will not have to return to the official start point.
Event Info: Historic homes, churches plus a 40 acre park with "Tingles"-humorous carvings in
the trees by a local artist. Also there are murals and sculptures throughout the walk
done by local artists. Stroll through University of Montevallo campus with buildings
dating from 1820s and 1850s through present day.

Start Point: Kincaid Park Outdoor Center- Front desk. 907-343-6397. From either downtown
(south on L St) or the airport (east on W. International Airport Rd) take Minnesota
Dr. south. Turn right (west) onto Raspberry Blvd and continue all the way into
Kincaid Park and on to its terminus in the parking lot of the large outdoor center on
top of the hill. There is no public transportation to the park.

Event Info: Trail is rated 1. The route is a 10km (6.2 miles) walk along trails and streets circling
Lake Hood Seaplane Base, the largest seaplane base in the world. The trail passes
through general aviation areas at the Anchorage International Airport. The route
continues to Earthquake Park, a site commemorating the 1964 Good Friday
Earthquake, with great views of the Cook Inlet, Mt. Susistna, and Mt. McKinley.

Start Point: Denali National Park Visitors Center (No Walk Box at Start Point. Walkers must
register in advance)- The Start Point is at the Denali National Park Visitors Center
[238 miles north of Anchorage---124 miles south of Fairbanks]. Please be aware
that due to the distance from Anchorage, there is no Walk Box at the Visitors
Center. To obtain the walk directions, walkers must register in advance by
submitting a signed Liability Release to the point of contact for the walk. Walkers
requesting insert card(s) for completing the walk must also submit $3.00 for each
walker. For those visitors arriving by train, the Start Point is a short distance from the
Alaska Railroad Station in the Park.
Event Info: This is a beautiful walk through the entrance area of Denali National Park. All but 2
km are within Denali National Park and Preserve. The Route uses both bike paths
and wooded trails to explore the Park entrance area. Highlights include the Visitor
Center campus complex, the Nenana River bridge crossing, the Jonesville Trail cut-
off to the Park, the Taiga Trail, and the Horseshoe Lake trail.

immediately come to a traffic light. Continue on straight, cross the bridge and go
straight through one more light. At the third traffic light, you have reached the Eagle
River Road. Make a right on to Eagle River Road and follow the road to the end, 12
miles into the valley. The Nature Center is at the end of the road. $5 per car parking
fee at Nature Center parking lot. No public transportation.
Event Info: Description: Trails are accessible 24 hours/day but start points hours of operation
are: May through September on Wednesday through Sunday from 10am-5pm;
Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. October through April on Friday through Sunday
from 10am-5pm; Closed Monday-Thursday. Closed on most major holidays. Call
907-694-2108 to verify. You will discover the beauty of the Eagle River Valley as
you begin your drive along Eagle River Road. At the log cabin Nature Center, ask
for the plastic, 12-inch square "walk box" at the staffed front desk; the box is on the
first shelf below the counter and marked "Walk Box". This moderately challenging
walk is on well-maintained trails within Chugach State Park and meanders through a
river valley shaded by cottonwoods and birch and bordered by picturesque
mountains. Enjoy walking a portion of the original Iditarod Trail and seeing the
rapids of glacial-fed Eagle River; look closely and you may see bird species to add
to your life list, moose or bear along the trail or beavers in ponds with breathtaking
views of often snow-clad, glacially-carved mountains in the background. For a

9PM. Trail is an easy walk along sidewalks, paved bike trails and some road
shoulders. The route leads you through some of the most historical areas of

Start Point: Giant Store/Shell Gas Station- 104 E 4th. West I-10 exit 304 & proceed S on
Ocotillo to traffic signal. Turn left & Giant Station is at next light on right. East I-10
exit 303. Giant Station on right beyond 3rd traffic light. Park in lot on side of building,
if possible.
Event Info: Dawn to dusk. Registration box below counter under lottery machine-ask clerk.
Elevation at start point is 4,800 ft. Route is along paved streets & on sidewalks
w/one noticeable incline. Route features panoramic view of San Pedro River Valley
& the chance to see several very long freight trains pass through the town. Count the
number of churches along the route in this prime example of "small town USA." 5 km
trail is rated 1A. 10 km trail crosses double set of train tracks twice. This walk is in
Cochise County-the only county in the USA named for an individual Native
American, plus Benson is a person's name. There are 15 murals within one block of
the start point.

Start Point: Copper Queen Hotel- 11 Howell, Bisbee, AZ. Exit 303 East, exit 304 West off I-10.
Follow Hwy 80 through Tombstone to Bisbee. Take the Old Bisbee exit. Park in the
lot on left at the end of the exit (small fee). Hotel directly behind Bisbee Mining &
Historical Museum, across the street. (Walk across Naco Rd/Copper Queen Plaza
along Brewery one block to Howell. Go left for 1/2 block.)
Event Info: Dawn to dusk. Registration box is behind the front desk, behind the curtain-ask
clerk. Start point elevation 5,000 ft. Trail goes through historic Old Bisbee.
Experience two sets of the town's famous stairs. Trail provides opportunity to
thoroughly explore this former copper mining town turned artist colony. See only 4-
story building in the world with ground floor entry for each floor. Walk features the
"Iron Man" statue, a WPA project, and the classic art deco Cochise County Court
House. This walk is in Cochise County-the only county in the USA named for an
individual Native American.

Meadow. Go 1 block to next traffic light-Beulah. Turn left on Beulah. Go 2 traffic

under I-40 and go to first traffic light, then as above.
Event Info: Trail descriptions, photos, and maps are available on our club web site. This walk is
on paved sidewalks and city maintained walking paths. The route goes through
Northern Arizona University, winds around the historic downtown area, goes past the
Union Pacific RR station/city Visitor Center, and follows some of National Historic
Route 66. The mountains north of town are volcanic with craters in lower areas.

Event Info: The walkbox is behind the counter by the fireplace in the lobby. The Woodlands Trail
walk is on a rails-to-trails walking path of the Arizona Lumber and Timber Company
roadbed used from 1902 - 1966. It goes from the edge of Flagstaff through a pine
forest to a county park. The return offers views of the San Francisco peaks, the
highest points in Arizona. These mountains are volcanic with craters in some of the
lower areas.

Start Point: Lexington Hotel & Suites- 12800 N Saguaro, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. From AZ101
Lp exit 41, go E on Shea approx 10.5 miles. Turn left on N Saguaro approx 2.5 miles
and turn left on Paul Nordin Pkwy to the Lexington Hotel & Suites.
Event Info: Daylight Hours. The route is a combination of city sidewalks and the Lake Overlook
Trail, a fairly easy desert hike. The Lake Overlook Trail is an interface of urban-
desert, so while you see the city you are also surrounded by desert mountains. You
will see a variety of cacti and other desert flora; and you might spot quail, cactus
wrens, lizards, javelina, cottontail and jack rabbits, coyotes, and even an occasional
bald eagle. The trail also allows a view of the fountain for which Fountain Hills was
named. At the top of each hour, it sprays a 300-500 foot plume of water for fifteen
minutes (wind permitting). Restrooms at start/finish and along route.

Start Point: Bitz-ee Mama's Restaurant- 7023 N 58th (across from the library), Glendale, AZ
85301 (one-half block N of Glendale). East US 60 (Grand) turn LEFT on Myrtle and
then RIGHT on 58th to Bitz-ee Mamas on the left. East I-10 exit 133B to merge onto
AZ101 Lp N. Exit 7 for Glendale. Turn RIGHT on Glendale Ave for 5 miles. Turn
LEFT on N 58th and Bitzee-Mamas on the right. West I-10 exit 143C for 19th toward
Grand (US60). Turn RIGHT on N 19th then slight LEFT on Grand (US60) approx 7
miles. RIGHT on N 57th, LEFT on W Lamar which turns right and becomes N 58th.
