ThegenusCyrtoclytusGANGLBAUERisoneofthesmallgenerainthetribeClytini, andcharacterizedbyveryshort thickenedantennae,globosepronotumandelongate hindbody.Thegenushasso farbeenknownfromtwelvespeciesmainlyoccurringin EastAsiatoSoutheastAsia.Sixspeciesofthegenushavealreadybeenrecordedfrom Indochinaanditsneighboringareas,ofwhichtwospecies,C.ca11izonus(GAHAN) from northern Myanmar and C fazoez NllsATo from northern Thailand, wereknown as beingendemictoIndochina. Recently,anadditionalmemberofthegenusCyrto lytusfromThailandhasbeen brought tomyhandthroughthecourtesyofMr.TakaoARAl.Thespeciesinquestion hasblackbodywithordinaryyellowishmaculation,andremindsusofC.capra(GER- MAR)widespreadinnorthernEurasiaandCcaproides(BATES) fromtheJapaneseIs- lands.However,acloserexaminationhasrevealedthattheThaispeciesnodoubtbe- longstothesamegroupasC.ca11izonus. Inthispaper,Iamgoingtodescribeitunder thenameofC keiichiitothe mem- oryofthelateDr.KeiichiKusAMA.Thisisasecondspeciesofthegenusnamedafter K.KusAMA.ThefirstoneisCkusamaiNllsATofromTaiwan,whichwasdescribedon theoccasionofhisretirement fromShizuokaUniversityin1988. Cyrtoclytuskeiichiispnov. (Figs.1a,2) A largespeciesofblack body, withordinarythreeyellowbandsonelytraand longslenderlegs. Colour largelyblack, partly reddishbrown, dull in general; headblack, with mouthpartsdarkreddishbrownexcept formandibularapices;antennaereddishbrown onbasal4segments,slightlyinfuscateonsegment5,andblacktobrownishblackon segments6-11;pronotumandscutellumblack; elytrablack, palereddishbrownat humeri,nearscutellum,onarcuatebandsonbasal3/10andalongapicalmargins;ven- tralsurfaceblack,moderatelyshiny; legsreddishbrown,slightly infuscateon femora, blackintrochantersandcoxae.Bodysparselyclothedwithreddishyellowhairs,and partlydecoratedwithlemonyellowpubescence;headsparselyhaired,denselywith lemonyellowpubescenceonfrons,except formidline,andthinlywithsimilarpubes- cencenearposteriorpartandat innerpartsofeyes;antennaewithblackpubescence except forreddishyellowpubescentscape;pronotumverysparselyhaire with lemon yellowpubescencealongbasalmargin,thoughverysparselysoatmiddle;scutellum densely with lemon yellow pubescence;elytramoderatelywithreddishyellowand darkreddishbrownhairs,andalsodenselywithblackrecumbentpubescence,andeach decoratedwithlemonyellowpubescentmaculationas follows: 1)anobliquenarrow bandnearbasalfifthfairlyapart fromsuturalmargin,stronglybent forwardsnearex- ternalmargjn,2)anarcuatetransversebandonbasal3/10barelyreachingsuturalma一「 gin,rathernarrowthoughslightlybroaderthantheanteriorban 3)atransversebroad bandonapical2/5,moreorlessarcuateonbothanteriorandposteriormargins,4)a andsparselypubescentapicalband;ventralsurfacewithsilverywhite very narrow hairs,especiallyonposteriormarginsofmetasternum,withdenselemonyellowpubes- cenceatsidesofmesosternum,externalmarginofmesocoxae,posteriormarginsof sjdesofmelacoxae,andapicalhalvesofabdominalsternites3and4; legsrather denselyhaired. Thoughunlikeingeneralappearance,thisnewspeciesnodoubtbelongs tothesamegroupasC.ca11izonus(GAHAN) fromnorthernMyanmar,mainlybecause ofthestructureofpronotumandappendages,andoftheyellowishpubescentmacula- tion.Thetworelativeshaveincommonsuchcharactersasthelargeglobosepronotum, long elytra, short and thickened antennae, and elongated legs. However, this new speciesiseasilydistinguished fromC. ca11izonusbyalmost entirelyblackground colouroftheelytra.ThisnewspeciesissimilarinfaciestoC.capna(GERMAR)wide- spreadinnorthernEurasiaanditssiblingspecies,C.caproides(BATES)endemictothe Japanese Islands,but thetruerelationshipofthepresentspeciesseems fairlyapart fromthem.ItalsodiffersfromCyunamensis(Pfc)inthedifferentcolouroftheelytra1 apices.
