We face a challenge the likes of which no other generation has faced before. The illusion of endless growth, which has guided humanity until now, does not work anymore. When the illusion spreads, like a tumour, it destroys our planet and makes it an unequal and unfair place to live. When the illusion falters, it awakens monsters within our societies that can, as in the past, crush humanity’s hope for a better future. We need to break free from its rules and oppose the hatred that is infecting our world. It is not enough to sit back, with indifference, and watch as the story unfolds. We must act, together, no matter what we do in life, where we live or where we come from. We have two options open to us: either we let the system run according to its own devices and prepare for a future of aggressive competition amidst social and environmental degradation, mass migration, fear, anger and nationalism – or we change it. How?
